Set like a jewel in the curve of the bay, this fine cut gem shines a new light within an historic art deco building in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. This elegant era is reinterpreted by interior designers Brendan Wong and Georgia Hawkins, with modern conveniences and rationalised room layouts, better suited to contemporary life. A deco palette of materials and finishes are employed to evoke the tranquility of a dreamy, seaside holiday. Previously congested, the flow of the interior was reworked to link the garden views at the rear with the harbour views at the front, allowing natural light and cross ventilation.
This serene ensuite captures a calm view of the bay, responding with gentle maritime tones and contemporised art deco detailing. The vanity mirrors serve to obscure the neighbouring building whilst maintaining natural light levels and to embellish the calm, clean lines of the room.
